At the End of the Hidden Greenery - Chapter 223
Seeing the dagger stuck in Kaman’s forearm, they realized it was thrown from the forest.
The group that emerged between the trees seemed to pretend to retreat, then called for reinforcements. Before long, their numbers had grown.
“‘The one you serve’?”
“How dare you deceive us so boldly?”
“Lancet! Arven!”
As Solmih called out, Lancet and Arven quickly moved to block the path while Jiwoo fled swiftly in Kaman’s arms.
In the commotion, the cloak Jiwoo wore slipped off.
Her long black hair fluttered in the wind, revealing blunt ears and a delicate nape that was not the typical features of the children of Ellandos.
“Damn!”
Kaman quickly covered Jiwoo again, but they couldn’t avoid the forest watchers’ gaze.
Seeing Jiwoo’s form, the group froze. They were clearly not expecting to encounter an outsider here.
“That’s an outsider…!”
“Wait, hold o…!”
Their hesitation was enough to disrupt their movements, allowing Jiwoo’s group to escape faster.

Luckily, except for Skiass, everyone had combat skills, helping them evade the group successfully.
They found a hidden spot and hid well. Solmih, Lancet, and Arven decided to scout the surroundings further.
“Those city folk really have the worst tempers.”
Kaman muttered as he nonchalantly pulled the dagger from his arm and began swiftly applying first aid with his other hand.
The distinct scent of the children of Ellandos’ blood filled the air. There was no iron-like smell of human blood, but a sharp floral fragrance like a strong perfume.
“I, I’ll take care of it. Why do it alone? I’m here…”
As Jiwoo touched the wound, it began to heal slowly. Fortunately, her senses were only slightly disturbed and her Akarna powers were still active.
Still, while tending Kaman’s wound, Jiwoo looked sad.
This kind of bitter feeling wasn’t new to her. If only she was a female manifestation… if she was more than just skilled at healing, none of this would have happened.
“What, what are those people doing?!”
Jiwoo continued checking the wound, her voice tinged with tears.
“They’re the average here. Full of nasty personalities.”
“Same goes for us…”
“Hey.”
Kaman smacked Skiass on the shoulder for his tactless remark.
“Ah… I get it now.”
Skias rubbed his shoulder, lost in thought, then suddenly looked like he’d realized something and spoke.
“The location here… I thought something was off.”
“Off how?”
Only after confirming Kaman’s wound was fully healed did Jiwoo wipe away her tears in relief.
“This area is so desolate that Ellandos doesn’t grow here.”
“Here?”
“Yes… in our time, it’s almost a desert.”
People once navigated by the stars, so it amazed Jiwoo that Skiass could determine location even in this situation.
“A desert in El Ragneil…”
She had never seen or even imagined such a thing in this lush land.
She recalled how, before falling here, El Ragneil always had at least one tall Elandos visible in the distance. Since arriving, she hadn’t seen any.
This meant Ellandos didn’t grow in a wide area around here.
So it made sense no one would try to come here, and going through here to reach the capital was almost impossible.
No wonder the other group found them suspicious.
“Well, that’s good then.”
After hearing that, Kaman’s expression brightened suddenly.
“They’re all going to die anyway, so no need to repay them. Haha!”
He said it cheerfully with a fresh smile.
Jiwoo recalled Skiass’ earlier comment, that their own tempers were just as bad….

Not long after, Solmih, Lancet, and Arven returned, having evaded the hostile group.
It was worrying because the others had been extremely cautious and aggressive, but fortunately, Arven only had a few minor scratches.
“Seo Jiwoo, I’m sorry.”
As Jiwoo treated the small wound, Arven bowed deeply. His ears were also drooping.
“…We lost everything.”
“Huh?”
“The items we got at the beach. The gifts, the things we bought… They were all things you worked hard for, and I didn’t take good care of them…”
Lancet, who had helped manage the luggage, also looked visibly downcast.
“Don’t worry about that. I’m just glad you’re safe.”
Jiwoo said she didn’t mind, but Lancet and Arven still couldn’t hide their gloomy expressions.
“That stuff was just evidence of the good times I had with you. Without you, they wouldn’t matter.”
Though they felt some regret, having narrowly escaped death repeatedly made those losses seem insignificant.
Fortunately, the antidote box and camping gear Jiwoo had briefly taken out for herself remained intact.
They had no choice but to spend the night hidden there and now had to face a more difficult path ahead.
Kaman grumbled as he made a place for Jiwoo to lie down.
“The children of Ellandos aren’t usually lost in the forest…”
“Well, being lost in an unfamiliar time isn’t that different, is it?”
Jiwoo spoke brightly and lay down in the spot her husbands had made warm for her. She was thankful for them making her resting place cozy.
